The Epitalon sequence (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a short peptide chain capable of penetrating the cell nucleus to interact directly with DNA. Its primary molecular characteristic is the observed ability to induce the expression of the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) enzyme. By stimulating telomerase, Epitalon is studied for its role in maintaining telomere length during cell division, which is a focal point of research regarding the "Hayflick limit" and cellular longevity. Additionally, it is investigated for its regulatory effect on the pineal gland's endocrine function, particularly in normalizing circadian rhythms.
